Marcello is a Senior Lecturer with the BPM Research Group at the Faculty of Science & Technology, Queensland University of Technology - Brisbane, Australia. He did his PhD studies with the same research group and received his PhD title in May 2009. Before undertaking his PhD, Marcello gained a "Laurea" degree in Computer Engineering (equivalent to BScEng + MScEng) from Politecnico di Torino - Italy in 2005.

His current research interests include variability management in BPM and process configuration, large process model collections, process modeling nad automation. Marcello is also active member of the YAWL Foundation and a trainer for continuing professional education courses in the areas of BPM and SOA.
